the struggler
mad max is the perfect example of the struggler. we obviously dont struggle the way he dose in the masive car chases he has to go through but in the way he struggles with harsh condisions, famin and large scale crime, people who go through stuggles can relate to him more than they might think, the car chases just make his struggles more interesting to watch on screen. mad max can be someone who almost all ages can relate to becase there are people of all ages struggleing, so there is no distinct age group but gender is a notherthing mad max is a very testostarone fueld character and his sires as a whole is very male driven (ha) and has a 16-25 age range.

the succeeder
donald trum is a good example of the succeeder as he has the disire to control, he is very self confident and keeps saying he wants to make "america great again" and succeeders seek out the best becase that is what they want and is what they feel they diserve. and even if people dont like to be asosiated with alot of people can realate to his goals of trying to get the best for themselfs and feeling very self confident even if they dont belive in his personal aims for his contrey but that i diffrent conversation on its own. the age groups that could relate to donald trump is unclear but his perspective could be seen as old fationed so maybe the resighned. but the ethnicity that would most relate to trump are the wite americans as he himself is wite and drives a very secluded or cut off point of view.

the explorer
tintin is a good example of the explorer as he seeks out adventure and goes all over the world to find it. people can easly relate to tintin as he is pritty much your avrage joe who has a lot of diffrent friends who get him into all diffrent and crazy experiances. the storys that are told by tintin can have some dark themes makeing it exsesible to an older audiance, but the way tintin tells its storys is very goofy and a little childish at times making it exsesible to a yonger audiance.

selling london to the target audience 40-45 year olds secondary research:
on the south bank website i found a page for an orchestra and though it would be the type of thing that some 40-45 year olds would enjoy. simply because when i did my primary research i was told in my interview that they like to send some of there time at art galleries and because orchestra is considered an art for, some of my target audience would find enjoyment in this.

David bowie was one of the biggest pop stars in the world back in the day when the audience we are trying to sell London to were in there prime. so going to something of a lesson for one of there greatest singers of their day might feel appealing.
final product and evaluation:
the way the end product turn out was good i felt. the voice over was informative and you can hear a bit of expression in the voice making it not so bland and monotone. i think this helps to keep the viewer interested because it feels like the voice over is talking with you and not at you making it feel less like a lecture and more like a conversation. also what the voice over was say was nice as it gave information clearly and specifically.
something else i thought was done well but could have done with a little improvement were the shots taken, there are a lot of well framed, well exposed and well placed shots but scattered around we can see a few shaky shots that look a little out of place and don't fit with the formal tone that i was going for and will be something i will need to learn and reflect upon when it comes to shooting my next film what ever it might be.
but the shots that are good are really good the exposure varies throw out but but the farming and placement are consistently good and and i feel like they convey the formal message i am trying to get across. also the music in the background is nothing special and pretty much does the job of filling in a blank space in the sound but as i say that it dose its job well. so over all the video turn out well with some very nice shots and a great voice over that could maybe have done with a few more try but other than that i do believe that this was a successful advertisement of london towards the 40-45 year old audience.

Trailer breakdown
Mad Max: fury road

genre: action, survival

USP (unique selling point): the practical action set pieces. films in the modern day have a habit of using a heavy amount of cgi so it might feel refreshing to audiences to see something that reals heavy of practical stunts and effects.

the story seems to be put to one side to make room for all the action heavy shots, because we only get a few lines of dialogue witch gives us the setting and an idea of what the story is but both seem to just serve the action in the trailer.

the style of the trailer has very vibrant colours and the choice to speed up the video ever so slitty to make us feel very jumpy and frantic just like max in the trailer.

the music starts out as a bit of a background filler to max's narration. but after he finishes the music starts with some low chelo to enthuses the dark tone of this speech the main villain is giving then as it comes to an end the music uses this high pitch noise to build up over some small action shots, then the music drops like holders as tones of action hits the screen and comes in and out between soft action and hardcore action music through out the trailer but slows down as max finishes his narration then go right back into it building up again until the titles where we get more low sounding chelo as the tittles flash on screen.

the editing starts out very fast paced with very quick cuts, as it shows how frantic and unstable Max i. then it roles into a section filled with long shots as we get some main story points but after we pass that section we jump strait into just shots of action and more action and more action cut to the sound of the music witch gives it a nice coherence and flow so it dose not feel like the music and video are two separate things, they work in tandem to create something better then ether one on there own.
trailer breakdown
about time

genre: romantic, comedy and fantasy

USP: the aspect of time travel in a love story

the story buy this trailer seems to be telling i one about a man trying to find love with this extraordinary tool to help him along the way and how it both helps him and cause more problems then he can see.

the style shot wise is not bad or great its fine but still nothing crazy. the music choice's work to serve the trailer when it needs to be sad and when it needs to be cheery. but over all it seems more like the shots work to make you focus on the characters and not any external factors.

the music starts out buy feeling like it is not for the trailer but is part of the film. as it fits the party scene we see so well that it sounds like it is just meant to be there. as the scene goes the music builds and as the main character misses a kiss, the music stops abruptly mirroring what is happening on screen, which is build up being waisted. then the music just seems to serve the purpose of filling a gap in the background and not much more than that.

the editing is great it real works to enhance the time travel part of the trailer by using sample voices from other scenes in the film to create a scene that isn't even in the final movie, this is great because it subs expectations so that the final movie can have more surprises.
trailer breakdown
suicide squad

genre: action, adventure and superhero

USP: the Joker

the story from the trailer seems to be the government gathers super villains and try to put them to use. so they force them to fight something so the government does not need to risk the lives of good guys.

the style seems very colourful and a light hearted as it throws a few jokes at us. it also seems crazy at times
witch fits the style of its characters.
the music is easy the best part about this trailer as it fits every clip that is being shown. it starts out with the sound sing about how he is confused if this is real life mirroring how the prisoners feel that this trap can't be real then barrels into the next verse of the song with conveys again how the prisoners feel as all the guards take them out of there cells. "to late, my time has come" the prisoners think there going to die then we get the "we will not let you go" as the villains are forced into doing something they don't want to do and the guards still art letting them go.

the editing is strange because i would normally say the music serves the shots but in this case the shots serve the music as the music and shots work so well together that i can't rely say. the shots are slow and long at the beginning and quick and jumpy near the end.

my trailer
the idea for my trailer is to have a boy on his own in a house doing everyday things and have the tone feel very innocent and just normal. but as it goes on we see more and more dark things to then revel the horrible situation that this person is trying to hide from with normal everyday things.

so the character is a boy in an apocalypse with he is trying his best to pretend is not happening, this to me feels very interesting as we see how when he is pretending everything is normal, when normal pretty much dead drives him a little insane. this idea was inspired by both 10 clover field lane and i am legend these two films deal with isolation and what that does to a person and how there is a need to keep your self sane by doing normal everyday things, but in actually fact it just creates this fake world around you and you know it but don't want to believe it creating this feeling of unstableness, that is what i want my trailer to portray.

Film Synopsis - Hidden

Hidden will be about a boy and his dog trying to create a normal atmosphere in their home, while at the same time being deathly afraid of what lurks outside their home. this begins to take a tole on the boys mind and sends him into a strange state of panic where he is completely sane in the day time, doing normal and everyday things but. he falls into this state of paranoia at night, out of fear of what ever is outside.

trailer evaluation:
what i wanted to create was a feeling of normality and security. but for those feelings to to then be slowly replaced with fear, paranoia and sadness. the story that i tried to portray was one of a boy and his dog trying to create a normal atmosphere to try and distract them selfs from what ever is outside there home.

i think what works well in this beginning of the trailer with its very normal and pedestrian feel, it almost feels boaring witch is good as this boy is doing boring things for an audience to watch is exactly what i wanted to express with these opening shots, just normality. the shots i use i think try to add a little more energy into the shots like my slider shot witch i used to try and make the shot more appealing to watch instead of a still shot that adds more boaring to and already boring shot, so that was all about making what was on screen just a little easier to watch. also i tried to sync the music with what was happening on screen so cutting shots to much the beat of the music witch i think helps the music and clips to feel like one thing and not two.

what else i think also works is the transition from normaly to scary it starts with small things like the boy looking at a picture and looking sad, that lets the audience know that he misses them maybe because there dead or he just does to know. then we go into him closing the curtains witch tells us he is hiding from something we don't know what. then we get his full paranoia as his hand shakes uncontrollably and he then slams his hand against the table this tells us he is terrified and it is taking its tole on him.

Representation
who is being represented? the disabled
how are they being represented? as if they are some sort of problem to be dealt with, or like they are a steel weight attached to your leg that stops you from doing what you want.
is the representation positive or negative? they are being represented negatively because people just see him as some sort of inconvenience.
how is everything in the frame helping to represent? what i think is most interesting is that when the boys are at the bus stop we see them extremely close as if to drive home the point that the brothers can't go to far away from each other.
representing the french and french stereotypes.
skit synopsis: a guy goes to a flat to meet his new room mate. when he arrives he sees that his new room mate is every french stereotype all mixed into one person and as they get to know each other and the stereotypes keep getting even more a more ridicules the guy leaves out of confusion.
list of stereotypes i want in the skit:

-
the stereotypical french clothing (wight and black striped shirt, a small red scarf, a bray and always holding a beget.
-
the fact that they only drink red wine.
-
has pictures of all the historical french men and women on his wall.
-
they eat snails, bad cheese and croissant
-
the violin is always playing in the background.
-
is extremely patriotic and feels the need to give long lectures on the history of France.
-
has the french flag everywhere
-
when he speaks english he has the stereotypical voice but when he speaks french he sounds absolutely fine.
this was a ted talk i filmed and edited with i thought was perfect for my representation project as it is all about how people perceive autistic people because of how they are represented to people.

stop frame animation
list of ideas for my stop frame animation short film.

-a blue tak creature gathers more and more blue tak to grow larger

-boys room cleans its self
-a little creatur trys to survive in
a boys massive room
i think the boys room cleaning its self could be a real interesting peace of animation but i'm having trouble thinking about a story because it is all well and good making a good animation but i feel like it should have some sort of narrative and story to it which is why i'm leaning more to the little creature trying to survive in a boys bed room.

but because i like these ideas equally and they both have good aspects about them i'm going to make a mash up of the both of them where a boy has lost something in his room and when he leaves his room to look for it somewhere else the room begins to clean its self and as it does the object he was looking for tries to fight its way throw the room to get to where it is supposed to be but it becomes tricky as the room is cleaning its self.

a boy loses something in his room and then his room cleans its self and the object he was looking for treks its way to where it is supposed to be as the room cleans itself around it.
pingu was the first stop frame animation piece i had ever seen and what i think is so great about it is that the creators not only managed to give there animations a smooth look to them but that they where able to give them such character in there body language and not having to rely on facial to much and that the body language of the characters says more about them then their facial features because well pingu lacks facial features. this is something i would like to capture if i decide on using a clay like substance.
this shows a massive growth and development of stop frame animation witch is an incredible achievement and it makes me want to do animation to a higher standard and try and push my skill as an animator.
which idea do people like most out of the three i have preposed?
a creature gathers more and more of itself to grow bigger:
6 people

a room cleans its self:
4 people

a creature goes from one side of the room:
3 people

why did they choose what they chose?
creature gathers more and more of it self to get bigger:
Sharn
female
17 years old:: " i would like to see the creature change as it gets bigger", " i would like to see very exaggerated features "
a room cleans itself:
Emma
female
30 years old:" i think it would be visually interesting and i would be intrigued as to what objects you would use "

a creature goes from one side of the room to the other:
Charlie
male
19 years old " i chose it because i think there could be a story to it "

film layout, creature grows by taking in more and more of itself.

my research has shown me the the majority of people like the idea of a growing creature and that the majority of the 6 who voted for this idea where male, meaning me as a 17 year old male can just do what feels right to my own demographic.

the way i would like to do this is by having a shape shifting blob that has no defined features and was ever changing. but when it gains mass it would change a little each time until it was fully grown and would then resemble something like a human to signify the end of its growth. i would like to see it use its shape changing ability to its fullest by making it not walk but kind wiggle and slither as i feel its much more interesting to watch then just walking.

i also i want this creature to feel friendly and not creepy or scary so a want to show some happiness or rather warmth from this little creature so it seems cute and not discussing.
Film evaluation
i think the best thing that this short has going for it is the fluidity of the animation, there is not a moment that feels stiff or choppy there is real feeling of life to the little creature it moves like it is alive and it also acts like it is alive, it smiles and waves to the camera making it feel more human. i also think that the use of the blue taks ability to shape change as it use a different way to move instead of having a consistent mode of travel some times it rolls, some times it acts like a worm going under and out of the ground and some times it just cartwheels to its destination. as much as i wanted to tell a story with a bugging, middle and end i think that there was not enough time for one and even if there was it would take way to much time, but i think this is a happy medium as you could say the little creature growing is a story on its own and yes, a very quick story mind you but a story nun the less. now on to the sound effects, their ok, they don't really sound like they fit with what is happening on screen and i don't mean timing i just mean the sounds don't mix with what your seeing on screen it creates a little bit of a disconnect between the viewer and the film, but as i said there ok not terrible some of the sound effects hit there marks and blend in well.
one of the things about this that I'm most proud of is the moment of the camera it is smooth and follows whats going on really well, to do this i put my camera on my slider and moved it with just a small tap of my finger every frame. over all i think i succeeded in creating a fluid, cute and visually interesting animation and i did what i set out to do which was to do all those things i just said.
branding
20th century Fox: this logo feels very old fashioned hollywood theatre, with the lights firing into the sky and the massive bold words, which are made even bigger by the background witch seems to be a city, giving the watcher a point of reference as to the size of the logo. its all trying to get across that a big event is about to begin. the title of the company is also expressing how long they have been around "20th century fox" its been around a long time. also the music that plays when this logo appears is like a build up, like we as the audience should be preparing for something. this logo does not really express any specific types of films that they specialise in but more that they have been around so long that they know what their doing.

what i want to take away: the nostalgic feel of the old ways of cinema in this logo are overflowing and it feels like a reminder that movies are an event and not a time killer, movies should be celebrated and that is the type of feeling this logo gives of and it would be something if i could capture that in my own.

marvel studios: this logo needs some context before breaking it down, in the 1990s marvel went bankrupt and sold off the movie rights to its most popular characters and in doing so the companies that bought those characters had to use the marvel logo in what ever those characters appeared in. then over time marvel grew into its own studio, so large that they need there own special logo to separate themselves from all the other companies using there logo for projects that had nothing to do
with marvel studios. so what marvel studios have done is highlight the "studios" part of the logo expressing that they are there own company and not just FOX or SONY using the "marvel" tag. if we look at the ascetic of the logo we see a lot of red, and red is a very aggressive colour which is representative of there movies, as they are action films like captain america, avengers iron man and thor, meaning they have a very localised range of films. also the lines above and below the "studios" in the logo look like their there to keep up the symmetry started by the block that the "marvel" is inside of.

what i want to take away: this logo is very specific when you see it you know what your in for and that is something worth capturing. you look at it and think "oh thats a marvel logo, i know exactly what they make". this is impressive because your audience is not second guessing themselves or your logo there not think about what type of film they make their just deciding whether to watch it or not.
disney pictures: the disney logo could not spell it out anymore then they already have, they make magical princess movies! the castle in the centre is very likely a reference to all the story about a princes locked away in a castle waiting for her prince charming to arrive and save her from some monster, and that is very representative of the movies disney make for example Cinderella, snow white and sleeping beauty, even if they have been mixing it up with things like frozen, the princes story base line has not changed. another thing is that they have made this castle look real in its texture and photo realistic quality but the castles dose not look like it was taken out of our world but rather ripped from the pages of a 7 year olds bed time story book.

video installation
video installation is about creating an environment around the viewer by building your video and sound into the views physical environment. this video here by Sonia Falcone depicts very well what video installation can be, a great blend of sound and video witch also uses the environment around it in enhance the whole thing, as you can see by the reflection in the floor making the project feel more involved and almost jump of the screen.

how i want to create my project is less environmental and more to do with what is being shown on screen. so i would like my video to be shown on a projector screen to make the whole thing feel more like a cinema experience and less of an attempt to try confuse my viewer by putting loads of screens around the room like a curtain artist Ugo Rondinone - THANX 4 NOTHING (2015) that i saw at the infinite mix witch i thought was some forced attempted to feel more impactful some how, when i believe his work is more impactful when i looked at one screen a focused on the words he was speaking and not looking at every screen to find the differences and on listening to the lyrics being spoken on screen. thats why i feel i need a simplistic set up.

wile at the infinite mix i saw loads of different works and if I'm totally honest there was only one witch really felt like it was trying to say something with this work. the rest just felt like a collection of nice shots mixed with some music and that was it. for example Kahlil Joseph's m.a.a.d. in my opinion is just shots of a black neighbourhood with some shots cut to the beat of the music, telling no story, giving no insight as to how a black neighbourhood might operate we just see people doing things, just stuff of no meaning or consequences there was no meaning to the madness, no story and i didn't enjoy watching that. in my opinion your work needs to express something of interest and relieves and I'm not just talking about lessons to educate people through your
my first idea for a theme was exposer and revealing ones true self. I've thought of a way to do this by putting a picture on top on a green screen then burning the picture away revealing the green screen, then in post i will put maybe another picture or clip onto the green screen depicting what is actually happening beneath the photo, (beneath the surface). i like this theme and idea as it allows me to touch on lots of different creative and relevant issues and express them in an interesting and creative way,

work but even just a simple story would work fine, there are also cases where some people can just get lost in imagination because of what is happening on screen and that alone but like I said I prefer the story over the beauty of a project, thats part of the reason i love movies but one came across as meaningful in this for me was "Thanx 4 Nothing" by Ugo Rondinone. his poem is very moving and is in a way telling the viewer about his incredibly hard life struggles and how he is thanking someone, but when never find out who stimulating the idea that he is thanking himself for all the pain he's gone through and thats very sad and interesting. its telling a story its giving me a lesson on life choices. that is what i want to capture something meaningful and interest so that I'm not just taking nice shots and cutting them to some nice music that is not video installation as far as i can tell that is what we call a music video.
my second choice of theme would have to be about forgetting memories, i feel that there is something interesting and relatable when it comes to people forgetting things and there is also something interesting to be done with remembering so my idea for this is to have pictures set up on a table and then film them being smashed and destroyed (forgotten memories) in different ways and then in post ill slow the footage down to a snails pace and then revers the footage so that the pictures are putting themselves back together (remembering memories) i will shoot it in pitch black with a light shining down on the objects being destroyed
