Branding:

20th century Fox: this logo feels very old fashioned hollywood theatre, with the lights firing into the sky and the massive bold words, which are made even bigger by the background witch seems to be a city, giving the watcher a point of reference as to the size of the logo. its all trying to get across that a big event is about to begin. the title of the company is also expressing how long they have been around "20th century fox" its been around a long time. also the music that plays when this logo appears is like a build up, like we as the audience should be preparing for something. this logo does not really express any specific types of films that they specialise in but more that they have been around so long that they know what their doing.

what i want to take away: the nostalgic feel of the old ways of cinema in this logo are overflowing and it feels like a reminder that movies are an event and not a time killer, movies should be celebrated and that is the type of feeling this logo gives of and it would be something if i could capture that in my own.

20th century fox mission statement: (i could not find one)

marvel studios: this logo needs some context before breaking it down, in the 1990s marvel went bankrupt and sold of the movie rights to its most popular characters and in doing so the companies that bought those characters had to use the marvel logo in what ever those characters appeared in. then over time marvel grew into its own studio, so large that they needed there own special logo to separate themselves from all the other companies using there logo for projects that had nothing to do

with marvel studios.

so what marvel studios have done is highlight the "studios" part of the logo expressing that they are there own company and not just FOX or SONY using the "marvel" tag. if we look at the ascetic of the logo we see a lot of red, and red is a very aggressive colour which is very representative of there movies, as they are action films like captain america, avengers, iron man and thor, meaning they have a very localised range of films. also the lines above and below the "studios" in the logo look like their there to keep up the symmetry started by the block that the "marvel" is inside of. this logo also comes with the reminder of curtain finger heads that people have grown to love and like, people like Kevin Feige the man responsible for creating the MCU (marvel cinematic universe), robert downy jr the man who has played iron man for 6 movies in and has acted like the glue to keep it connected. so when you see this logo you see more then the words you see the people it represents and the characters it represents ( iron man, captain america, Thor, hulk, black widow and hawk eye)

what i want to take away: this logo is very specific when yo see it you know what your in for and that is something worth capturing you look at it and think "oh thats a marvel logo, i know exactly what they make". this is impressive because your audience is not second guessing themselves or your logo there not think about what type of film they make their just deciding whether to watch it or not.

mission statement: Marvel Entertainment, LLC, is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Walt Disney Company, it is one of the world’s most prominent character-based entertainment companies, built on a proven library of over 8,000 characters featured in a variety of media over seventy year. Marvel utilizes its character franchises in entertainment, licensing and publishing.

disney pictures: the disney logo could not spell it out anymore then they already have, they make magical princess movies! the castle in the centre is very likely a reference to all the story about a princes locked away in a castle waiting for her prince charming to arrive and save her from some monster, and that is very representative of the movies disney make for example Cinderella, snow white and sleeping beauty, even if they have been mixing it up with things like frozen, the princes story base line has not changed. another thing is that they have made this castle look real in its texture and photo realistic quality but the castles dose not look like it was taken out of our world but rather ripped from the pages of a 7 year olds bed time story book.

i don't know if there is a specific ascetic or physical thing i would like to take away because nothing about this logo says Stanley, but there is something about the disney logo that is warm, exciting and magical. and if my logo can make people feel any of those feelings then that will be a successes on its own.

mission statement: "The mission of The Walt Disney Company is to be one of the world's leading producers and providers of entertainment and information. Using our portfolio of brands to differentiate our content, services and consumer products, we seek to develop the most creative, innovative and profitable entertainment experiences and related products in the world."

if i had to choose witch one i like most it would have to be the 20th century fox logo as it feels like its saying cinema unlike the marvel and disney logos that seem to give of the idea that they have a localised range of movies, and not a very broad scope of movies to watch. so if i real had to pick one it would be FOX simple because it seeks to cinema lover in me and not the action or princess film lover in me.

this is my basic design for my logo, the crack would go onto but that was to diffricult to draw and i would be here all day so i did it in layers the crack would go onto of the "fracture" logo in the same position it is on its own rectangle. the font i was trying to go for was similar to marvels, so as to feel bold and sharp. i like the name because it feels sophisticated and catchy, also i feel like its a name that can be taken seriously and not looked down on.
