Representation
who is being represented?
the disabled
how are they being represented?
as if they are some sort of problem to be dealt with, or like they are a steel weight attached to your leg that stops you from doing what you want.
is the representation positive or negative?
they are being represented negatively because people just see him as some sort of inconvenience.
how is everything in the frame helping to represent?
what i think is most interesting is that when the boys are at the bus stop we see them extremely close as if to drive home the point that the brothers can't go to far away from each other.
Planning:
representing the french and french stereotypes.
skit synopsis: a guy goes to a flat to meet his new room mate. when he arrives he sees that his new room mate is every french stereotype all mixed into one person and as they get to know each other and the stereotypes keep getting even more a more ridicules the guy leaves out of confusion.
list of stereotypes i want in the skit:
the stereotypical french clothing (wight and black striped shirt, a small red scarf, a bray and always holding a beget.
the fact that they only drink red wine.
has pictures of all the historical french men and women on his wall.
they eat snails, bad cheese and croissant
the violin is always playing in the background.
is extremely patriotic and feels the need to give long lectures on the history of France.
has the french flag everywhere
when he speaks english he has the stereotypical voice but when he speaks french he sounds absolutely fine.
script:
a boy walks into a house looking for someone wile carrying bags filled up because he is moving into a new flat and is looking for a his new room mate.
boy: hello i'm here about the room
he then stops to hear some generic french sounding music coming from one of the rooms then walks towards it. he opens the door to see a room filled with all the french stereotypes on my list. the boy is shocked and looks to see a boy siting down on a chair holding a glass of red wine in one hand and a croissant in the other. the boy turns to see the other boy and excitedly walks over to greet him.
french boy: hello my friend
boy: hi you must be.........
the french boy kisses him on the cheeks wildly, much to the discomfort of the boy
french boy: Anton yes Anton that would be me, im your new flat mate.
the boy forces a smile onto his face trying to mach the french boys level of excitement.
boy: yes great its lovely to meet you Anton i was wondering if i could dump my things in my room if thats ok......
Anton stops him mid sentence
french boy: no no no i must get to know my new best friend before that, come come sit down, would you like some red wine.
boy: oh i don't drink red, cant stand it.
Anton's smile fads a little
Anton: ahahah well you might have a little trouble then
boy: and whys that?
Anton: we only have red wine
boy: well its okey ill just have tap water
Anton: the taps only produce red wine
boy: what?
Anton goes to the tap and turns it on only for it to produce red wine
boy: why does it do that
Anton: we only drink red wine in this house. but look its fine that you don't like red wine as long as you like a croissants.
boy: oh yeah i do like croissants.
Anton: good because thats all the food we have
boy: what?
Anton opens the cupboards to show that there is nothing but croissants and a few begets.
Anton: oh no i was wrong we have begets as well
boy: wow ok look Anton its quite clear you have a great love for your country.
Anton: oh yes very much so
boy: but don't you think some variety is in order
Anton: ah yes i see your getting at
boy: thank you
Anton: you would prefer snails
the boy jumps up in fear
boy: no no, im done. keep the room ill find somewhere else.
the boy grabs his bags and runs for the door and leaves.
